So 8 years ago we were invited to go on a business convention to Extremadura in Spain to meet Producers and Stud Farms of Pura Raza Española (PRE or also referred to as Andalusians) and Puro Sangue Lusitano (PSL or also referred to as Lusitanos). In appearance, there are many similarities, but purists would strongly disagree! The intricacies of the differences would need a book on the history of the two distinct breeds, but in essence they both come under the flagship of Iberian horses.
This became rather a love story with horses from both stud books; for their beauty, work ethic and generosity of spirit.
We have over the years, built up a nucleus of honest and trustworthy people that we are confident to list, advertise and promote this breed for world-wide. You can visit our horses for sale here and we regularly have a choice of at least 100 horses online and many more we have access to.
We have our own PRE stallion from the Arrmas Stud; JL Tarugo, as well as a PRE mare from very old Spanish lines. We also started breeding our own PRE-Fusions, using Registered Irish Draught mares from Ireland and put to JL Tarugo. We are on our third year of foals and are thrilled with the cross. Quality with bone and wonderful temperaments. Seven have been sold to the UK and we are excited to see them produced.
Great transport links to most of Spain with cheap flights make it easy for prospective clients to fly in and try a variety of horses, or just one that has tugged at their heart strings. Many people trust our judgement of ensuring a good match and buy sight unseen. Like buying from Ireland sight unseen, we feel it is hugely important to send us a riding video to make sure that horse and rider are well matched. Vetting both clinical and X-rays can be organised for buyers and we can arrange for the vetting to be videoed and for the reports to be provided in English.
When possible we try and organise someone to travel with you to try horses you have selected, or that we have selected for you. We can also help with advice for accommodation and local attractions as well. Even if you don’t buy a horse for any reason, we want you to enjoy your trip to Spain.
